osCommerce is available for free, at no charge, in its full entirety and is released under the GNU General Public License.

No limitations exist in the osCommerce solution, meaning an unlimited number of categories, products, orders, customers, etc can exist on an osCommerce installation, and contains a powerful Administration Tool to handle all catalog related content.

osCommerce is a community effort to build an online shop e-commerce solution which has always been available for free, and will always remain free, as part of an open philosophy shared by many thousands of people around the world who participate in the development and progress of the project.

It is this bonding of openness that has led to the success of osCommerce, making it the leading Open Source based e-commerce solution powering many thousands of online shops around the world, where the GNU General Public License ensures osCommerce will always remain free and open, and extends this principle to all works based on osCommerce which has led to thousands of contributions being made available by community members, which extends the functionality of osCommerce in ways not originally planned of.

Although osCommerce is available for free, the work and labour involved in making the project progress must be accredited for and is done by accepting donations and forming partnerships with organizations such as Pair Networks, SourceForge.net, SunSite.dk, Google Inc, and others.

The osCommerce team are grateful for all donations made as it helps cover the costs the project needs in hosting, development, and support areas, and also helps when internal and public meetings are held to cover travel and accommodation.
